Competition Rules
All entrants must be financial members of the club.
All entries must be the work of the entrant.
Competition Sections:
Colour Projected
Monochrome Projected
Colour Prints (Maximum image A3 = 297×420)
Monochrome Prints (Maximum image area A3)
Competition Categories:
Standard club competitions have a Set Subject as well as Open category.
In each of the four Sections a maximum of three entries is allowed, spread between these categories, as follows:
3 Set Subject and no Open, or
2 Set Subject and 1 Open, or
1 Set Subject and 2 Open, or
0 Set Subject and 3 Open.
For easy identification, images must have a unique title eg. in the Set Subject The Colour Red, don’t simply call your photo “Red” or “Image No. 1”
Images are judged out of 10 points in regular club competitions. Any image may only ever be used twice in regular club competitions and once in a BPC Annual Exhibition.
PROJECTED IMAGES – includes Digital and Slides
Digital images:
Maximum image dimensions 1920 pixels wide, 1080 pixels high, including for vertical images.
Maximum file size 2MB.
Members unsure of how to re-size images should contact a committee member for assistance.
The image file name must appear in the following format: Entrant Name_Title_Section_Category with underscores as shown
eg. Joe Bloggs_Image Title_Colour_Set
Jill Bloggs_Image Title_Mono_Open
Images must be attached in an email to: bpcdigitalentries@gmail.com by 7pm on the Tuesday before the competition.
In order to receive automatic confirmation of receipt of your email use the following format in your email Subject line: YYYY_MM_DD_COMPETITION TITLE
eg. for the competition The Colour Red on February 16th 2023, write 2023_02_16_THE COLOUR RED
Slides:
Slide details – Entrant Name, Title, Section and Category (see example in digital Images above)
– are to be emailed to bpcdigitalentries@gmail.com by 7pm on the Tuesday before the competition.
Slides to be spotted in the lower left corner when viewed in the hand the right way up and brought on competition night.
Slides can be 5cm x 5cm or 7cm x 7cm.
PRINTS
Prints are to bear the Entrant’s Name, Title, and Category on the back. (“Section” should be obvious and it is the responsibility of the entrant to hang each print in the correct designated area.)
Writing must be legible and the title exactly as submitted, as the Title is read from the back of the print to identify it during judging.
Print details must be emailed to bpcprintcompetition@gmail.com by 7pm on the Tuesday before the competition.
In your email, provide the information as follows:
Entrant Name (once), then, for each image…
Section (Colour or Mono) Category (Set Subject or Open) and Title
Eg. Colour Set Tomatoes
Mono Open Portrait of Dad

On competition night, hang your prints in the labelled section and category area using either your own Velcro dots on the back of your print or Velcro bulldog clips (provided) BEFORE 7.35pm.
ANNUAL EXHIBITION:
A maximum of 3 entries may be entered in each Section for the Annual Exhibition. All Annual Exhibition entries are Open category but also may be nominated for special awards. The special awards for 2023 Annual Exhibition are ‘Social Documentary’ and ‘Pattern and Texture”, along with the perpetual WEA Auatraliana Landscape Award.
All photographs, whether used in club competitions during the year or unseen in the club, are eligible for entry in the Annual Exhibition provided they have not been entered in any previous Annual Exhibition.
Perpetual Shields are presented in each Section of club competitions, using the member’s best 6 competition total scores for the annual Aggregate Awards. Shields or individual trophies are presented for the top image in each Section or special category in the Annual Exhibition. All shields, trophies and awards are presented at the Annual Exhibition.
