January 19      WELCOME BACK!  Mood Images
Bring 5 photos depicting different moods such as happy / sad / amused, etc. Can be demonstrated by the facial expression of a human or animal; or it might be an object or scene that creates the mood.

February 2     WORKSHOP: Back to Basics
How to take the camera off ‘Auto’ with confidence.
Making sense of the magic terms.
F stop, aperture, speed, ISO etc.

February 16    COMPETITION: THE COLOUR RED
Any image is suitable providing the main theme is the colour red. ‘Colour’ subjects have been favourite with members, so we’ve revisited the colour red!

March 2          GUEST SPEAKER: Chris Schultz
Enhancing your street, photojournalism and social documentary photography with monochrome techniques, incorporating ‘Silver Effects’

March 4          FIELD TRIP / OUTING: Social Documentary
The aim of this outing is to hone your skills on seeing and capturing photographs that show aspects of the society we live in and the issues affecting that society. Street photography meets photojournalism.

March 5      BLACKWOOD MARKETS
The Club will display photographs in the Main Hall. The aim of this display is to promote the Club and attract new members. Members to provide framed photographs for display.

March 16        GUEST SPEAKER: Steve Wallace – Photoshop/Lightroom 
Steve has over 20 years’ experience in computer software so members wishing to gain extra ‘inside’ knowledge will surely benefit from tonight’s presentation.

March 30        COMPETITION: PATTERN & TEXTURE
Patterns and textures can be found everywhere from nature to architecture. Pattern and/or texture must be the dominant theme of the image.

April 13          FORUM: Which Version Works?
Bring several examples of the same photo but with different lighting, format, etc to compare and discuss in group forum.

April 27          WORKSHOP: Small Things
This is about all things ‘small’, and techniques used to photograph them. Bring your camera, a micro/macro lens or one that can focus down to a short distance. Lens extension rings and close-up filters are also helpful.

May 11           COMPETITION: SOCIAL DOCUMENTARY
This subject encompasses street photography, photojournalism and human interest and how we interact in and with our world. The image must make a statement about the society in which we live.

May 25           GUEST SPEAKER: Ross Lamb – Photography need not be a (very) expensive hobby
Ross will exhibit some of his photographs and demonstrate how he took them using inexpensive and sometimes home-made equipment.  

June 8             WORKSHOP: Light Painting
While all photography captures light, we will experiment in painting with light. Bring your camera, tripod, remote release and any interesting sources of light you have – torch, glow sticks, light sabre etc.

June 22            COMPETITION: SOMETHING SMALL
The main subject of the photograph can be anything from still life to roaring with life but must be smaller than a teacup.

July 6               FIELD TRIP / OUTING: Field Trip – Dusk until Dawn (6:30 pm At Hahndorf NOT at the Memorial Hall)
An opportunity to get some practical experience in taking photographs during the period from dusk to dawn.

July 20             WORKSHOP: How Did You Do That
Several members will demonstrate the techniques they used to take or create a photo that others have found intriguing.

August 3           COMPETITION: DUSK UNTIL DAWN
The period from dusk to dawn, sunset to sunrise, must be obvious in the image.

August 13         FIELD TRIP / OUTING: Birds – Oaklands Park Wetlands
Birds can be found in every habitat, natural or urban. Oaklands Park Wetlands has both and is brimming with birds.

August 17         GUEST SPEAKER: John Hodgson
John is recognised as an excellent Landscape Photographer who has facilitated many workshops and field trips for photo club members where attendees gain insights into improving their landscape photography.

August 31         WORKSHOP: Low Light Photography
No, not ‘low life’, but that idea may very well be used in this evening’s workshop! Various themes, all involving low light, will be pursued. Bring your camera and a tripod, as most photographs taken in low light require longer exposures not suitable for handholding your camera.

September 14    ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Election of Committee. Consider nominating for a position. Activity to follow the meeting – details to be advised

September 24     FIELD TRIP / OUTING: Scapes
An outing to photograph landscapes / seascapes and cityscapes. Destinations to be advised.

September 28     COMPETITION: BIRDS OF A FEATHER
Any bird, any behaviour in any setting is eligible. From wild and free to your pet budgie.

October 12          FORUM: I Did it My Way
Everyone will have a chance before the meeting to edit the same photos in any way they choose. Then on the night we can compare approaches and learn from each other’s ideas and techniques.

October 26         COMPETITION: SCAPES
Any image that can be identified as a Landscape, Seascape or Cityscape. Natural and/or man-made elements can be included.

November 9       TRAVELOGUE
Various members will be asked to bring along a collection of travel photographs to present and tell us where they went and what they saw.

November 23      ANNUAL EXHIBITITION
Our annual awards presentations for the yearly competition aggregates and the Annual Exhibition.

December 7         END OF YEAR EVENT
