Programme 2024

18 January     WELCOME BACK!     ‘My Summer’

Bring a maximum of 10 digital images showing how you spent summer – but not necessarily this summer.

Create an image that doesn’t have a direct relationship with the real world. A means of expressing ideas, thoughts and emotion through the different elements of a picture, without trying to create a traditional or realistic photograph.

A presentation by Michael Selge on the techniques used to photograph live performances.

Any image where the centre of interest is an item that is out of place or time!

An opportunity to learn more about the workings of your camera, by taking it off auto! Make sense of terms such as aperture, f/stop, speed and ISO. Bring your camera and manual.

Discussion and demonstration of some of the very useful ways that masking can help in processing an image. Using Lightroom and Photoshop. Other software programmes will be discussed.

An image that depicts any live artistic performance.

An opportunity to learn about the use of light in photography and simple ways to compose your image before you press the shutter. Bring your camera and a tripod.

Capture the subject in an appetising way!

The subject for the image is your choice but it must completely fill the frame.

We will meet at the Studio for some brief instruction then head out on a practical journey to photograph subjects and scenes at night.

An image depicting pure indulgence.

Learn how to critique your own images.

The title says it all. The feature of your image must be doors and windows. Straightforward or use your imagination to create something out of the ordinary.

Our annual meeting for the election of office bearers and committee. Consider nominating for a position.
Activity will follow the meeting – to be advised.

Once again, everyone will have the opportunity before the meeting to edit the same photos in any way they choose. On the night we can compare approaches and learn from each other’s ideas and techniques.

An image from any location that depicts a rural environment.

Using flash, both on and off the camera.
Bring your camera and flash for a combined discussion and practical session.

Our annual awards presentations for the yearly competition aggregates and the Annual Exhibition.

Social event – details to be advised.
