Ok – and now to my little extra reading material:

If you want some alternative inspiration, have a look at the finalists for the Bowness Prize (http://www.mga.org.au/bowness-prize) – an annual Australian based photography prize to promote photographic excellence – and it’s not limited to professionals. The prize is pretty good too!
Now, with summer almost upon us, and the sun cranking up the light, and judges saying the light hasn’t been kind to you (grrrrrr). Well here is an alternative discussion (https://fstoppers.com/education/why-are-you-afraid-sun-87671) that suggests lots of sun can be good! The article uses models, but the ideas apply to any subject matter
And finally – to finish up with the effect of too much sun – freckles! Here is how to undo the side effects (http://petapixel.com/2015/09/28/this-is-what-infrared-photography-does-to-freckles/#) – use an Infrared filter (sorry Jack). It’s just a bit of fun, but isn’t that what our photography is supposed to be about?
